Badges
Each participant will receive a name badge upon registration. For security reasons all participants are requested to wear their badges during the Conference. Entrance will not be permitted to those delegates not wearing their badge.
Dress code
Dress code during the Conference and the Welcome Reception and Concert is business casual or business attire and business attire for the Gala Dinner on Monday evening (7 June, 2010).
Climate
The climate of Budapest is continental. In June it is usually nice and warm with a maximum temperature of 23-28°C during daytime, while the lowest temperature during the night might range between 15-20°C. Rain is not usual in this season.
Currency
The Forint (HUF), the official national currency, is convertible. The exchange rates applied in Budapest banks, official exchange offices and hotels may vary. The current exchange rate on 2 February 2010 is 1 Euro = 269,24 HUF. It changes on daily basis.
Credit Card
All the major credit cards (Amex, Visa, EC/MC) are accepted in Hungary in places displaying the emblem at the entrance.
Visa
Most Europeans do not require an entry visa for Hungary. Please consult the Hungarian Embassy or Consulate nearest to you for specific details relating to visas or alternatively you can visit the website of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: www.mfa.gov.hu
Invitation letter
An official invitation letter will be sent to participants who may need it to obtain visa or funding etc. on individual request. Invitation letters do not constitute a commitment to provide any financial support for travelling and staying expenses. The letters will be sent by regular mail or via e-mail in pdf file.
Insurance
The registration fee does not include provision of any insurance. Participants are advised to travel with valid personal travel and health insurance.
Parking
Always try to park at a guarded parking lot and do not leave any valuables in the car. Please note, that Budapest is divided into paying areas, with one parking meter in each street. The tariffs differ but the maximum parking duration is 2 hours.
Parking is available at the open air parking area and in the garage of the Budapest Marriott Hotel.
Open air parking fees: approx. 3 Euro / hour approx. 30 Euro / day
Garage fees: approx. 2,5 Euro / hour approx. 25 Euro / day
Electricity
The voltage in Hungary is 230 V, 50 Hz AC.
Security
Hungary and Budapest are safe places. However, the usual security precautions should be observed. Beware of pickpockets, especially on public transport.
Public transportation
You can travel in the vehicles only with pre-purchased passes or tickets that you validate when starting your trip. Uniform tickets can be used in all public transport vehicles within the boundary of the city.
Prices in 2010 are as follows:

Tickets can be purchased at metro stations, at news stands and at ticket vending machines.
Budapest Card
”The whole city in your pocket.” is the motto of the Budapest Card.
The Card offers its holder more than a hundred services:
- unlimited travel on public transport
- free or discounted entry to 60 museums and to several sights
- sightseeing tours with additional discounts
- reduced price tickets for cultural and folklore programmes
- discounts in restaurants and spas
- discounts for car rental, sports facilities and at several other places
- travel accident insurance
Budapest Card is valid: for 48 or 72 hours
Prices in 2010:
HUF 6 300 for 48 hours (approx. 23 EURO)
HUF 7 500 for 72 hours (approx. 27 EURO)
Each Card is valid for one adult and one child up to 14 years of age.
Available: At more than 250 locations in Budapest - main metro ticket offices, tourist information bureaus, travel agencies, hotels and the airport, and at major tour operators abroad.
Shops
Shops are open form 10:00 till 18:00 from Mondays to Fridays, but in the Commercial Centers they are open from 10:00 till 21:00 from Mondays to Saturdays and from 10:00 till 18:00 on Sundays.

Tipping
There are no hard rules for tipping in Hungary. If you are satisfied with the service a 10% tip is customary, particulary in a taxi, restaurant or café with table service.
